Houghton (by Michael)

Houghton is the town of spring with lush
green grass and multicolored flowers. You
could smell the honey made by the bees.
Or dip your toes in the icy blue water.

Houghton is the town of summer with
steaming days and nights that fold
on top of you. The smell of pine cones
float on top of the slow moving breeze.

Houghton is the town of fall with very
crunchy leaves and many jobs of raking
the falling red and yellow leaves that
forewarn you of frosty winter nights ahead.

Houghton is the town of winter, freezing
though the days may be the fire keeps
me warm- it crackles soothingly. The outside
air comforts you almost like a pin cushion.

Houghton is the town for me with white
spotted fawns frolicking through our
backyard, squirrels munching birdseed,
small kids playing soccer in the field.

This is the town for me.
