| The MYTH Test Study Guide This test will be given on Friday. The test will have multiple choice items, and will be given online. You should know/study/be familiar with the following: - the basic plots of each myth
- the main characters of each myth
- the personalities of each character (what they like to do for fun, what they do for work, where they live, why each is famous/important, etc.)
- the purpose each myth serves (what it is explaining, its lesson, etc)
- the information from pp. 537-538, 543, 551, 557.
- things that we have discussed in class (e.g. hubris, polis, transformation)
- places mentioned in the various myths (Crete, Mount Olympus, etc)
- what each god/goddess is in control of (e.g. Poseidon is god of the sea)
You should also know the terms we studied during our unit on writing: - metaphor
- simile
- personification
- extended metaphor
- symbol
- exact words
- figurative language
- sense words
- the four purposes of literature
- be able to pick out similes, metaphors, and personification
I think this test is hard. If you study you will do well. I would NOT advise you to just show up and take the test without having studied.
