Drying the Caribou

This is a picture of some dead caribou which has been hung up to dry. In the bush, the caribou run wild. Because of an overpopulation of this animal, natives and non-natives alike are allowed to kill them for food. Before cooking, the bodies are hung up like this to drain them of blood and mositure. They caribou are then cut for cooking. The meat is actually quite tasty, and does not tast "gamey" at all! What's even better... this food is free!
