Unalakleet, AK

Unalakleet, Alaksa is located South of Nome on Norton Sound, right in the middle of the coastline. This is where I spent 8 of my ten weeks in the Alaskan Bush. The town is small, with only about 600 people who live there. Jobs are limited. In town there are only two grocery stores, one video store, one post office one restuarant, and three churches. The airfield and school (including the district office) employ most people. Because there are no roads that lead into, or out of, Unalakleet, the village can only be accessed by boat or plane. As small as it might seem, however, the people are extremely nice!
