| Alone in a Room - I sit in silence,
- unadorned by sound,
- unadorned by distraction.
- Trapped,
- the walls close in
- all around me, and
- I strain my ears-
- for the sound of footsteps,
- voice, or phone.
- Nothing.
- The quietness rings loudly in my ears.
- Forlorn, I open my mouth--
- but speak no words.
- Time passes slowly by.
- When, where, and how old will I be?
- when the darkness finally comes.
